‘Suicidal bomb’: BJP’s Giriraj Singh on baby’s death at Shaheen Bagh protest
Updated on Feb 07, 2020 07:13 pm IST
Union minister Giriraj Singh sparked controversy with his comments on the ongoing protest at Delhi's Shaheen Bagh. He called it a repeat of the Khilafat Movement which had been launched in the second decade of the last century. He also commented on the death of an infant at the protest site recently. Singh called the incident a 'suicidal bomb'. His comments came a day after his peer in the Bharatiya Janata Party, Tejasvi Surya, asked the majority community to be 'vigilant' to prevent a return of the Mughal rule. Shaheen Bagh has been the site of a protest for almost two months against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, and a proposed National Register of Citizens.
