China a silent gainer in the Russia-Ukraine conflict? And why India should worry

- The ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine is increasingly becoming an unpopular war for Putin-led Russia as it stands isolated globally and faces severe sanctions from the West. China is the only P-5 nation which has not condemned Russia and instead blamed the United States for the ongoing situation in Ukraine. However China has not endorsed Putin overtly for his Ukraine move but has come up with a very calculated response to the situation as it apparently does not want to harm its business ties with the West. The hostilities with the West will push Russia more towards China, which in return is expected to embolden the Xi Jinping regime, and the consequences could be felt not only in Taiwan or Tibet but also along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh. India, which has been in a tight spot from day 1 over Ukraine, will have to keep a check on China's actions in coming days and weeks in a bid to prevent any misadventure by the dragon. Hindustan Times' Senior Editor, Aditi Prasad, discusses the China factor with Observer Research Foundation Senior Fellow, Sushant Sareen. Watch.
