Delhi becomes BS-VI compliant to curb air pollution

Updated on Mar 28, 2018 02:52 pm IST

After massive public outcry post Diwali over pollution, Delhi has become the first city in India to become BS-VI compliant, a cleaner fuel than what was being used. The BS-IV has 50 parts per million (PPM) of Sulphur while BS-VI has 10 PPM. The BS-VI fuel came into markets on 1 March and is supposed to reduce air pollution caused by cars and other vehicles by up to 80%. While Mercedes is the only manufacturer that has BS-VI compliant cars currently, other manufacturers will follow suit.
