Watch: Trichy bridge collapses, washes away in Cauvery river basin

A part of the Kollidam bridge in Trichy collapsed and washed away in the Cauvery river basin early on Sunday morning. The incident took place at around 1 am. No casualties have been reported so far.
This incident comes as southern India battles the fury of rain which has caused devastating floods in Kerala, leaving over 324 people dead. Even Karnataka is facing floods in three of its districts. Aerial surveys have been conducted in the states and efforts are on to rescue people while also providing relief material to them, as Kerala sees over Rs 8,000 crore in damages till now.
