Covid update: Canada scraps China deal; Ganguly on IPL & CSK infections

From unrelenting improvement in India's recovery and case fatality rates, to the shadow cast over the Indian Premier League after emergence of multiple infection cases - here are the top news updates on the Covid-19 pandemic. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Palaniswami announced the extension of lockdown in the state, a day after guidelines for Phase 4 of Unlock were announced. The state has had over 4.15 lakh cases and over 7,100 deaths so far. Meanwhile, Delhi, which had managed to suppress a severe outbreak of the disease, is witnessing a fresh surge in infections. The national capital saw almost 2,000 new cases on August 29, the highest since July 10. Meanwhile, Delhi minister said that precautions like temperature checking and social distancing will be maintained when Metro Rail services restart in September. In Rajasthan, minister Pratap Khachariyawas tested positive for Covid infection. In international news, Canada has reportedly decided to cancel an agreement with a Chinese pharma for the development of a vaccine.
