Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has defended Narendra Modi government's new travel guidelines for the flyers arriving from the 'at-risk' countries, saying the decision was taken in the national interest. He was responding to a questioning of Congress MP Manish Tewari in Lok Sabha today and said that the flyers from listed countries will have to undergo RT-PCR test in a bid to contain the spread of the Omicron strain. Scindia also shot down the suggestion that the fully vaccinated passengers be given some relaxation, saying that the virus can still transmit even if a person has been given double dose of the covid jab.
