43 peacocks and peahens found dead in Madurai

As many as 43 peacocks were found dead in Tamil Nadu's Madurai. The incident took place at Maruthakulam near Madurai on Sunday. Among 43 peacocks, 34 were female and 9 were male. S Arumugam, the Range Officer at Madurai Wildlife Range, said “Peacocks may have consumed paddy grains laced with poison on Friday night. Peacocks have been sent for post-mortem. Investigation is underway.”
