Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued his first public reaction after a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia following a violent cockpit incident. Netanyahu said the co-pilot stabbed the captain as the aircraft neared Israel and apparently attempted to crash the plane carrying mostly Israeli passengers. He said a passenger and crew member forced their way into the cockpit, subdued the alleged attacker and helped other crew stabilise the aircraft before it landed safely at Tabuk Airport. Netanyahu praised those who intervened as heroes, said all passengers were out of danger, and confirmed that Saudi authorities had detained the co-pilot for questioning.
