FIFA World Cup trophy arrives in Egypt to inspire the nation
A ceremony to celebrate the arrival of the World Cup trophy was held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on Thursday as part of its promotional tour around the world. Hundreds of Egyptians gathered to see the trophy and take photos with it. Earlier before the ceremony, Egypt's president Abdel Fattah el-Sissi lifted the trophy during a conference he was attending. Former French footballer Christian Karembeu was present at the event and praised the first Egypt football team to reach the World Cup finals in 28 years. Egypt, an African giant and founding member of the Confederation of African Football, has only played at two World Cups before - in 1934 and 1990 but will be at the 2018 tournament.
