50 hours & counting: Rescue teams struggle to save toddler from borewell

It has been over 50 hours and efforts to save 2 year old Surjith from a Borewell continue in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Deputy CM O Panneerselvam is present at the spot and is monitoring the rescue operation. A new pit has now been dug near the tunnel to save the toddler. Surjith fell into the borewell on Friday evening while he was playing. The NDRF has also joined the rescue operation. At least 10 efforts have been made so far to lift the toddler through a rope with a knot.
