The Upper House of Parliament witnessed a heated debate on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. The Opposition launched a spirited attack to try and block the legislation which proposes to make it easier for non-Muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh to acquire Indian citizenship. The Opposition's arguments were based on the basic structure of Constitution, specifically Article 14. Amit Shah concluded the government's contention by claiming that the bill doesn't violate Article 14, and that Muslims have nothing to fear from the bill. He also listed instances of persecution faced by non-Muslims in the three neighbouring countries. Watch the full video for more.
