Amit Shah talks digital census in 2021, floats multipurpose ID card idea

Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that the 2021 census will be a digital exercise and a mobile app will be used to collect data. Shah said that the transformation from a paper to digital census would be completed in 2021 itself. The Home Minister also floated the idea of a multipurpose identity card for citizens with all utilities like Aadhaar, passport, driving licence and bank accounts. The Home Minister also added that there should also be a system that when a person dies, the information is updated in the population data automatically.
