Asom Gana Parishad celebrates lapsing of the Citizenship Amendment Bill

Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) former ally in Assam government, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Wednesday celebrated after the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was lapsed in Rajya Sabha which adjourned sine die. The bill sought to give non-Muslim immigrants in Assam Indian citizenship. Party workers celebrated the Rajya Sabha adjournment with fireworks.
