Security tightened in Ayodhya on Babri Masjid demolition anniversary
Updated on Dec 06, 2018 12:18 pm IST
The streets of Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya were seen heavily guarded by several security personnel deployed to check the overall security measures on the 26th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition. The Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was pulled down allegedly on December 6, 1992 by a group of Hindu activists. They claimed that the mosque was built on the site after demolition of Ram temple. The case has been going on since then. The Supreme Court in October adjourned the Ayodhya title suit to January 2019 to fix the date of hearing in the matter. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is celebrating the day as 'Shaurya (bravery) Diwas', whereas the Muslim community has marked December 6 as 'Black Day'.
