Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar released from prison

The Uttar Pradesh Government released Bhim Army chief and Dalit leader Chandrashekhar alias Ravan from prison at 2:24 AM today. He was jailed in 2017 under National Security Act (NSA) charges in connection with 2017 Saharanpur caste violence case. A large number of his supporters turned up after his release. The Government ordered his early release because of Chandrashekhar's mother's appeal. Hundreds of Bhim Army supporters who gathered outside the jail, raised of 'Bhim Army Zindabad' and 'Chandrashekhar Zindabad' as their leader walked out. Overwhelmed supporters garlanded him and distributed sweets to express their happiness over his release after 15 months in jail.
