After heated debate, Citizenship Bill clears Lok Sabha, RS hurdle next

After a day of fierce debates, Lok Sabha passed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. The bill was passed with 311 votes in favour, & 80 votes against. The contentious bill will now be sent to Rajya Sabha. NDA doesn't enjoy a majority in the Upper House. During NDA's previous term, LS had cleared the bill. The bill was pending in RS when the 16th LS' term concluded.
