On the second anniversary of demonetisation the Congress and the Left on Thursday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for putting out of circulation currency notes of the denomination of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000.
Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary CPI(M), told reporters in Delhi demonetisation was an unmitigated disaster for the people of India.
Congress leader and former minister Anand Sharma said all the four benefits of demonetisation the prime minister promised have yet to materialise. Prime Minister Modi announced demonetisation on the evening of 8 November, 2016.
