A high-velocity dust storm hit parts of north India on Monday night with a wind speed of up to 70 kmph, according to the Met office. Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas, including Rohtak, Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Bagpat, and Meerut experienced gusty winds and squalls resulting in low visibility, power disruption and property damage. Strong winds resulted in power cuts and trees getting uprooted in Mayur Vihar, Janakpuri and Dwarka. Delhi recorded a temperature of 39.6 degrees higher than the season average for this time which was brought down by the dust storm. The Delhi government issued a list of “do and don't” including asking people to prepare emergency kits and listening to the TV and radio news for weather updates.
