Shiv Sena MLAs elected state minister Eknath Shinde as legislature party leader. This came after Aaditya Thackeray said he wanted to sit out of BJP-Sena alliance government. Sena leaders said Aaditya's decision was supported by his father and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. Aaditya Thackeray is first from the Sena family to enter Maharashtra assembly. BJP won 105 seats and Shiv Sena bagged 56 in the 288-member assembly. In the outgoing government, BJP has 27 ministers, Sena 13 and smaller allies have three.
