Free ride for women plan: AAP counters ‘Metro Man’ Sreedharan’s criticism

Updated on Jun 15, 2019 08:37 pm IST

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia defended his government's plan to provide free public transport to women. He said that daily ridership in the Metro had fallen to 25 lakh, while its capacity is 40 lakh. The Aam Aadmi Party leader went on to claim that the move would only benefit the Metro as the Delhi government would reimburse the carrier. His comments came a day after former Delhi Metro Rail Corporation chief E Sreedharan, also known as 'Metro Man', wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that the Delhi government's decision would make the Metro bankrupt and inefficient.
