Opinion: Can Trump act on his Kashmir ‘slip’ or mere words to appease Pak?

India has categorically denied any request by PM Narendra Modi to US President Donald Trump regarding any mediation in Kashmir. According to New Delhi, India's consistent position is that all outstanding issues with Pakistan are discussed only bilaterally in accordance with the Shimla Agreement & the Lahore declaration. India's vehement denial came a day after Trump in initial remarks with visiting Prime Minister Imran Khan offered to help resolve the Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan.
