Updated on Feb 24, 2020 09:05 pm IST
Schools in Kashmir reopened on Monday after the winter break. Children returned to classes after a gap of over 6 months. Educational institutes in the Valley had been closed after the erstwhile state's special status had been revoked on August 5, 2019. Although schools and colleges had been reopened beginning August 19, attendance had remained low. Parents had been apprehensive about sending their wards to school when the security situation was tense and there was a communication lockdown.
