Updated on Feb 23, 2017 02:07 pm IST

Liquor baron and former owner of Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya, wanted in India for Rs. 9,000 crores in unpaid dues, said the official authorities have no grounds to extradite him from Britain and he would not leave. He further said he had become a “political football” between the two main political parties as they campaigned for state elections. The businessman has not left the UK in nearly a year and has attended meetings by video conferencing. Vijay Mallya had shifted base to the UK while a group of banks tried to recover the unpaid loans. He has a country home bought from the father of triple world champion Lewis Hamilton.
