India lost one MiG 21, pilot who engaged Pak jets ‘missing in action’: Govt

An Indian Air Force pilot who engaged Pakistani jets that violated Indian airspace this morning is missing in action, the government has said. External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said India is verifying Pakistan's claims that the pilot is in their custody. The missing IAF pilot was part of the Combat Air Patrol (CAP) that engaged the on-coming Pakistani fighters when Pakistan launched an air assault in Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistan strike component comprised 12 fighters- Four Mirages, Four F-16 and Four JF-17 fighters.
