‘Modi called Delhi rape capital’: Rahul Gandhi defends ‘Rape in India’ remark

Updated on Mar 09, 2020 08:32 pm IST

Despite massive furore in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi refused to apologise for his 'Rape in India' remark. The former Congress President said that Narendra Modi had earlier referred to Delhi as the rape capital of India. Rahul alleged that the BJP raising the issue was a bit to divert attention from the violence in the North-East following the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Earlier, BJP had sought an apology from Rahul Gandhi over his remark with Smriti Irani accusing him of giving a clarion call to rape Indian women.
