Onion prices skyrocket across the nation, common man badly affected

Onion prices 'skyrocket' across the country. The government scoured markets in West Asia and Europe for onions. However, onion imports made up just a small fraction of shortfall. People are having a tough time in managing kitchen supplies. The government is importing 11,000 tonne of onions from Turkey by January. It has also signed contracts for an additional 4,000 tonne of onions from Turkey.
