Gandhi Jayanti: Rohini Hattangadi on playing Kasturba in the iconic film

Rohini Hattangadi was only 27 when she played the character of Kasturba Gandhi in Richard Attenborough's legendary 1982 film. As India remembers the Mahatma on his 150th birth anniversary, actor Rohini Hattangadi speaks to Hindustan Times' Sonal Kalra in this video. “I realised the magnitude of the film only towards the end of its shooting. India came to be known in the West because of the movie Gandhi. Otherwise, they still thought that tigers roam around on the streets in India,” says Hattangadi as she revisits her memories.
