RS passes National Medical Commission Bill, medical fraternity on warpath

Rajya Sabha passed the National Medical Commission Bill amid massive protests by medical fraternity. While doctors argued that the bill is undemocratic, the government argued that the bill is revolutionary. Protests were held across the capital and slogans were raised against the Central government. Several protesters were also detained by police.The NMC will regulate medical education in the country, replace Medical Council of India.
