Tight security in J&K after terror threat intel, Amarnath Yatra curtailed

Updated on Feb 26, 2020 04:44 pm IST

Security upped in Jammu and Kashmir with the government asking Amarnath Yatris and tourists to 'immediately' leave the valley. Airlines have been advised to be ready to run extra flights from Srinagar. Thousands of additional central paramilitary personnel have been moved into the valley. Senior J&K politicians met the governor on Friday and told him there was 'panic' among people. J&K Governor asked the delegation of politicians to “maintain calm and not believe rumours”. J&K Divisional Commissioner said the govt advisory was issued on credible intelligence inputs. Indian Army, citing intelligence inputs, said Pak-based terrorists planned to target the Amarnath Yatra.
