An under-construction five-storey building collapsed in Ghaziabad's Missal Gadi on Sunday. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) said they have rescued eight persons alive, while one boy remained trapped until Sunday night. Two people are dead. The count may go up. The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) said that the building was being constructed without authorisation as it had no plan approval. They had issued a notice to the builder in December 2017. District Magistrate Ritu Maheshwari said that rescue operations are underway. She further said, “Prima facie, there seems to be issues with quality of the building. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered.
