The 'Bhogadevi Mitra Mandal' organised Dahihandi programme on the occasion of Janmashtami in Mumbai's Worli. The members of the mandal celebrated Janmashtami by breaking the handi. One of the participants said, “I am feeling very happy after breaking the handi. I have been practicing for long. I have been doing this for two years.” According to the mythology, it is believed that Lord Krishna was born at the midnight and is the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Janmashtami is observed on the Ashtami Tithi, the eighth day of the month of Bhadrapada according to the Hindu almanac.
