The Indian Navy on June 3 evacuated 38 stranded Indians from the Socotra island in Yemen where they got struck after a cyclone hit the area 10 days ago. The Navy had diverted its ship INS Sunayna from the Gulf of Aden to Socotra a day earlier as part of operation 'NISTAR' to rescue the Indians, a Navy spokesperson said. They were brought onboard the ship after evacuation on Sunday morning. The ship is bringing the Indians back home. Severe cyclonic storm Mekenu crossed the Yemeni Island of Socotra on May 24, leaving 38 Indians stranded on the island with limited food and water.
