A fair spells communal harmony

Eclipsing the divisive notions, many Hindus in the Baharaich town of Uttar Pradesh participated in the Urs of Syed Salar Masud or Ghazi Miyan. Orthodox minds were stunned to see almost 80 per cent of the crowd at the Dargah of Hindus in a gathering of around a lakh of people at the fair, almost a synonym of communal tranquility in India. Ghazi Miyan is equally adored by Hindus and Muslims. Indeed, Hindus see him as an ally of Lord Shiva.
