Amit Shah sent to two-day police custody

Updated on Aug 07, 2010 09:02 pm IST

Amit Shah, former Home Minister of Gujarat, one of the accused in the fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin Sheikh has been sent to police custody for two days. A bench of the Gujarat High Court issued this directive on a plea by the Central Bureau of Investigation, the central probe agency at Ahmedabad on Friday. Jethmalani also noted that the court also turned down their demand for video recording of interrogation during Shah's two-day custody. Earlier the designated CBI court on Wednesday had rejected the plea of the CBI for the remand of Shah, a close aide of Narendra Modi, who was arrested by the agency on July 25 in Ahmedabad and has been in judicial custody ever since.
