Arun Jaitley tears apart govt's Lokpal Bill
Updated on Dec 29, 2011 03:35 pm IST
Initiating the debate on Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha, leader of Opposition in the Upper House, Arun Jaitley said the Lokpal Bill drafted by the government is a half-hearted legislation. He alleged the government is trying to create a smokescreen of giving constitutional status to the body of Lokpal to hide the flaw of the bill being a weak one. Jaitley 'invited' the government to give Lokpal the constitutional status provided the rights of states won't be infringed upon and federal structure of the polity would remain intact.
