All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MP Asaduddin Owaisi has been granted bail by the Sangareddy court today in connection with the 2005 protest case. He has now been asked to appear in court on February 2. Earlier this week, he had surrendered and had been given 14 days of judicial remand till February 2. The police had registered a case against Owaisi in 2005 in the Medak district, after his younger brother and other MIM MLAs had allegedly assisted him in preventing local officials from widening a section of the Hyderabad-Mumbai National Highway near a mosque. A non-bailable warrant had been issued against the politician for repeatedly failing to show up in court.
