Assam demands more paramilitary forces

Violence that broke out between mainly Hindu tribesmen and Muslim Bangladeshi settlers in the Assam last week has led the death toll to rise to 53 till now. The police expect the toll to raise more as they reach remote regions and retrieve more bodies. Assam's chief Tarun Gogoi demanded more federal paramilitary forces to prevent clashes between local tribes and the Muslim settlers. Hundreds of police have fanned out to keep the peace and look for bodies of riot victims.
