Assam violence: Death toll rises to 19

Security is stepped in Kokrajhar district of Assam after violence claimed the life of 19 people as fighting between indigenous tribes and Muslim settlers erupted over the weekend. The protesters today stopped the Rajdhani Express. Businesses, offices and schools remained closed today and streets were deserted. Authorities imposed a night-time curfew to prevent more violence and central troops moved into remote areas to deal with threats of more violence.
