Bamboo industry offers self-employment in Tripura

Bamboo handicrafts industry has opened up new avenues of self-employment for the people in Tripura. A new group of young artisans from Tripura have set up a handicraft workshop in a village bordering Sidhai area of Tripura district, under the banner of Bamboo Enterprises United (BENU). The specialty of the group is that it has taken the initiative to showcase furniture made of 'kanakaich', which till a few days back was considered useless except for making police batons.
