BJP and JD(U) spar over PM candidate
Updated on Apr 14, 2013 01:29 pm IST
Janata Dal-United JD (U), and a key partner in the BJP- led NDA alliance, indirectly asserted that it would never accept BJP's Narendra Modi as a prime ministerial candidate. The JD (U), which heads a coalition government with BJP in Bihar, is averse to Gujarat Chief Minister Modi, being projected as the prime ministerial due to the 2002 communal riots. After its party meeting, the JD (U) said that Modi, despite being Chief Minister, had failed to show the kind of response and open heartedness that was required to deal to tackle the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat.
