BJP calls for nationwide shutdown against petrol price hike
Updated on May 28, 2012 12:57 pm IST
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared a nationwide Bandh against the unprecedented petrol price hike, on 31st May. While speaking to media persons in Raipur, senior leader of BJP Sushma Swaraj said that such a steep hike of petrol was not acceptable. India's state-run oil firms have raised the price of petrol for the first time in more than six months, in a gesture of fiscal discipline that economists claim is unlikely to give a significant lift to the embattled rupee.
