BJP protests against police firing on farmers

Members of Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra on Friday protested and demanded dismissal of congress ministers over the recent police firing on farmers and the lack of local government's response on it. On Tuesday, three persons, including a woman, were killed after a heated farmers' stir, which led to a police firing at industrial township of Pimpri-Chinchwad near Pune. Hundreds of farmers had gathered to block the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in a bid to vent their anger against the skewed acquisition of their lands for a water project in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Scores of policemen had swooped down on the spot and urged them to move out from the busy highway. BJP leaders today also met state governor K. Sankaranarayanan over the issue.
