A. Sivathanu Pillai, CEO of BrahMos Aerospace, an India-Russia Joint Venture, on Saturday said that the BrahMos missile marks a breakthrough in missile technology. Pillai said that the supersonic cruise missile would be modified to reach hypersonic speeds of Mach 5 and above. Pillai said that orders worth Dollar4 billion have been received for the two stage Brahmos missile, making it a profitable enterprise considering that the total investment from India and Russia for the project was only Dollar300 million. India shared 50.5 percent of the cost and Russia 49.5 percent.
