Cabinet approves Bhopal GoM's recommendations

Cabinet on Thursday approved the recommendations in the Bhopal gas tragedy panel report, which was put forth by the Group of Ministers (GoM), a panel constituted by the Prime Minister to look into the various aspects of the 1984 industrial catastrophe. Union Minister Ambika Soni mentioned that the government would take measures for the extradition of Warren Anderson, the then Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of US-based Company, Union Carbide and face trial in India. The Cabinet has also agreed to enhance compensation for the tragedy victims, the minister noted.
