Cabinet approves Judicial Accountability Bill

The Union cabinet yesterday approved the Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, 2010, that provides a mechanism for inquiry into the complaints against the judges of the Supreme Court and the High Courts. The bill will also mandate the judges of the High Courts and the Supreme Court to declare their assets and liabilities, including those of their spouses and dependents. Meanwhile, speaking on the potboiler issue of General Pervez Musharraf, former President of Pakistan, admitting to the his country being a training ground for militants infiltrating in Indian Kashmir, Soni said that the statement will be dealt with seriously by the central government.
