CBI raids houses of Kalmadi aides Bhanot and Verma

The Central Bureau of Investigation today conducted searches at 11 places including the residences of CWG OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot and OC Director General V K Verma in connection with the multi-crore commonwealth games scam. Sleuths collected scores of documents from the residence of both the officials. Earlier, the CBI had registered two FIR in their bid to seek all the documents, which can lead to the OC's exposure in dealing with payments made to different agencies involved in the2010 Delhi Games. Several bodies including the anti-corruption watchdog, the state auditor, the CBI and a special committee set up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are investigating allegations of corruption over the international sporting event.
