'Chhath' celebrated with zeal

Lakhs of devotees thronged rivers, water reservoirs, canals and ponds across Bihar to celebrate Chhath Puja on Saturday. In Patna, lakhs of devotees, standing in knee-deep water, offered ceremonial 'Arghya' to the rising sun on the last day of three-day long festival. Meanwhile in Allahabad also, people celebrated Chhath with gaiety and fervour. Women, who fast during the chhath and prepare special prasad consisting sweets and Thekua, performed religious rituals and presented offerings to the Sun God while standing in knee-deep water.
