There was no respite from the on going intense cold wave sweeping northern India with temperatures plummeting across the region on January 30. In the absence of any substantial means to keep them warm, the deprived and the poor are the worst affected. More than 150 people have died due to intense cold in the northern states of Uttar Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
