Common engineering admission test from 2013
Updated on May 29, 2012 11:51 am IST
Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal has announced a single admission test admissible for all central government-run engineering colleges, in a bid to reduce stress on students and their parents. Addressing reporters in New Delhi, Sibal said that the test would be recognised by the premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs). Weightage would be given, both to the candidates' test scores as well as their performance in the intermediate school examinations. Further, the state institutions would be allowed to decide their own criteria for weightage to be given to the test and school scores.
