The Samajwadi Party (SP) has said that the central ruling Congress party's approach to the upcoming Presidential election was 'undemocratic'. Senior SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav said that while the Congress was the single largest party in Parliament, its high-handedness over the choice of candidates was inappropriate. Meanwhile, former Trinamool Congress lawmaker Dipak Ghosh said that TMC chief Mamata Banerjee was only exercising another coercive tactic on the central government by proposing the name of former president APJ Abdul Kalam, as her formidable candidate.
